Situation: A large academic department within in
a leading research university was experiencing significant conflict
that resulted in the inability to select a new department chair,
to capitalize on the synergies within the multidisciplinary program,
and to balance teaching, research and service contributions required
by the department.
Result: Working with sponsorship from the dean
of the college, Cambridge Hill Partners worked with the faculty
to determine the source of the conflict, to develop departmental
protocols for interactions and to create a process for the selection
of a chair.
